When it comes to refilling your scented candle again, the scented candle refill in our pouch is the easiest way to refill. Our award-winning refill is an innovative solution to a problem many people face. What do you do with all the candle cups when the candle has run out?
This is how you prepare the cup before filling your candle
To get the best results when filling, it is important that your cup is clean and free of wax residue. We recommend pouring boiling water into your candle cup. Let the hot water melt the wax so it floats to the surface. When it has solidified completely, you can easily pick it up and pour out the water. Make sure not to flush any wax residue down the sink.
Wipe the cup with a piece of paper and lift off the metal tray at the bottom.
PRO TIP: Is there a lot of wax left when you cleaned your candle? Is it the same fragrance you are going to refill? Then you can wipe off the wax cake and put it in the refill bag before you heat the bag. This way we get zero waste.
To top up with refills for scented candles
Read the instructions carefully before starting.
- Open the bag by tearing off the top at the mark on the side. Take the wick out of the bag ( ⚠️ Very important! ).
- Seal the bag again, doing this carefully from edge to edge.
- Place the bag in the microwave and run at 600W for 30-35 seconds. Turn the bag over and run another round at 600W for 30-35 seconds.
- Take out the bag and rock it lightly in your hand to mix the wax. Set the bag aside while you prepare the wick.
- Follow the instructions above for cleaning the cup, then attach the wick centered in the candle cup by removing the cover of the double-stick pad already attached to the wick.
- Gently rock the bag again in your hand and then open it. If all the wax is melted and cloudy, you are ready. If the wax is completely clear, it has become too hot and needs to cool down a little more. When it becomes cloudy, you can pour it out. Make sure you do this on a durable surface or use mats.
- Make sure the wick is straight when you pour the wax, if it tilts or settles you need to adjust the wick.
- Let the candle cool for at least 12 hours. For the absolute best effect, we recommend 1-2 days before you light the candle. Don't forget to cut the wick to 1 cm when the candle has cooled.
Can I use any cup?
We really welcome you who want to experiment with our refill bags. If you are sure that the vessel can withstand heat (70-90 C), we think it is an excellent idea. Also keep in mind that the vessel should be neither larger nor smaller than 8-10 cm in diameter. If the vessel is smaller, the wick will burn the candle too quickly and you will get a candle that flickers. If the vessel is larger, there is a risk that you will get a tunnel effect when it is lit.
Frequently asked questions about refills for scented candles
Can all refill bags be mitered?
No. Only our new bags are tested for micro. If your bag has an instruction on the back that it should be used in a water bath, it is our recommendation that you do so.
My microwave does not have 600W, what do I do?
If your microphone is marked with Low-Medium-High or similar, we recommend that you contact the manufacturer or read the manual to find out which setting is correct. If your micro has steps and 600W is not one of them, we recommend that you take as similar a value as possible. Taking higher W lowers the time. However, it is important to know that we are not responsible for our own experiments.
How do I sort the bag?
Our new bag must be sorted as plastic packaging.
What do I do if I get wax on me or on the work surface?
All our scented candles are mild and it is enough to rinse off with lukewarm water and soap. If you have an allergic reaction, follow the directions on the back label. Surfaces that have received wax can be discolored if they are fragile. However, the easiest way is to let the wax cool completely and then break it off, if you wipe the wax with a cloth that is still warm, you rub the stain out more.
